Which Faucets Are Suitable for Dispensing Wine and Coffee?

Most people think of draft faucets as beer equipment. But the same tap lines, towers, and dispensing hardware that pour a perfect pint can also be used to serve wine on draft and nitro cold brew coffee — as long as you choose the right faucet for the job.

At Foxx Equipment Company, we carry a wide range of faucets rated and recommended for wine and coffee dispensing. Here's a breakdown of the faucet types we sell that are suitable for both, and what makes each one work.

Why Faucet Choice Matters for Wine and Coffee

Wine and coffee are far more delicate beverages than beer. Both are easily oxidized, quickly absorb off-flavors from residue or bacteria, and require materials that won't react with their acidity. Standard brass faucets — common in older draft systems — can corrode, leach metallic flavors, and harbor bacteria in hard-to-clean cavities. That's why wine and coffee dispensing calls specifically for:

  • Stainless steel construction (304 or 316 grade) throughout the body, lever, and all liquid-contact surfaces
  • Forward-sealing designs that keep beverage from sitting in the faucet body between pours, preventing oxidation and contamination
  • NSF certification where required by health codes
  • Easy disassembly for cleaning and sanitizing

Faucet Types Suitable for Wine and/or Coffee

1. Forward Seal Faucets

Forward seal faucets are among the best options for both wine and coffee dispensing. Unlike traditional rear-seal (standard) faucets, forward seal designs use a ball or floating front seal that sits right at the nozzle tip, which means the beverage is never exposed to air inside the faucet body between pours. This dramatically reduces oxidation — critical for wine — and virtually eliminates the sticky, bacteria-prone residue that makes standard faucets problematic for any non-beer application.

Foxx carries several forward seal options suitable for wine and coffee:

  • Perlick 630SS Forward Seal Faucet — Perlick's revolutionary ball-and-floating-front-seal design, all 304 stainless steel body and lever, NSF listed. A top choice for wine on draft and nitro coffee.
  • Perlick 650SS Forward Seal Faucet with Flow Control — Same forward seal design with an added adjustable flow control, ideal for dialing in the right pour rate for wine or controlling the cascade on nitro coffee.
  • Intertap NukaTap Faucet — Forward sealing with improved laminar flow and reduced first-pour foam, all 304 stainless. Tagged for wine, coffee, and nitro applications.

2. Creamer / Stout Faucets

Creamer faucets (also called stout faucets) use a restrictor plate or specialized nozzle that forces beverage through tiny holes under pressure, creating a thick, creamy cascade. Originally designed for nitrogen-pushed Guinness-style stouts, this mechanism is equally suited to nitro cold brew coffee, which relies on dissolved nitrogen to produce its characteristic silky, foam-topped texture.

  • Krome Creamer Faucet (C283) — 304 stainless body and lever, pull-forward-to-pour design that creates a rich, creamy head. Categorized specifically under Coffee/Wine faucets in our catalog.
  • CMBecker Creamer Faucet — Black plastic body with stainless lever and brass trim. Another pull-forward creamer well-suited for nitro coffee and nitrogen-pushed beverages.
  • UBC Stout Faucet — PVD Gold 304 Stainless Steel — A visually striking stout/creamer faucet in PVD gold-finished 304 stainless, suitable for wine and coffee alongside its stout application.

3. Edge-Tap / Extended Spout Faucets

For wine dispensing specifically, an extended spout helps direct the pour down the side of a wine glass — the same technique used when manually pouring a bottle — which minimizes splashing, reduces oxidation from agitation, and preserves the wine's aromatic profile.

4. Standard Stainless Faucets (NSF-Listed)

Standard (rear-seal) faucets can be used for wine and coffee dispensing when made entirely of stainless steel and maintained with diligent cleaning and sanitizing practices. They're a more economical option where high turnover keeps product moving and oxidation is less of a concern.

5. Roto-Ball Faucet

The Roto-Ball faucet uses a rotating ball valve mechanism rather than a traditional plunger, offering smooth, dripless operation and European-style aesthetics. Its stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for wine and liquor service.

  • CMBecker Roto-Ball Faucet (RV900) — 304 stainless, described as "perfect for dispensing most types of beer, wine, and liquor." European styling to complement any tower or column.

What About Towers and Columns for Wine and Coffee?

Choosing the right faucet is only part of the equation. Foxx also carries towers and columns specifically designed and NSF-certified for wine and coffee applications:
